Overview

The purpose of the role is to manage the throughput of patients on behalf of the practice; to manage appointments for all clinical staff, either face‑to‑face or by telephone. The role also involves receiving, assisting, and directing patients to the appropriate services or healthcare professionals in a courteous, efficient and effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient throughput and appointments for all clinical staff, both face‑to‑face and by telephone.
  • Receive, assist and direct patients to the appropriate services or healthcare professionals.
  • Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice, providing clerical support to clinical staff and other team members.
  • Facilitate effective communication between patients, the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.

Qualifications

  • Team player with a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
  • Experience in phone and reception roles; good keyboard and IT skills; ability to demonstrate a strong command of spoken and written English.
  • Previous experience within the NHS preferred, with working knowledge of EMIS and medical terminology.

Working Hours

Some early morning/evening work required, along with occasional Saturday shifts.

Tyntesfield Medical Group in North Somerset is a 13‑partner General Practice with a patient list of approximately 35,000 split across four sites: Tower House Medical Centre, Brockway Medical Centre, Backwell Medical Centre and Long Ashton Surgery.
