We are currently working with a leading Newcastle-based technology business looking to strengthen their backend engineering team with the addition of an experienced Senior Software Developer. This is an opportunity to join a highly technical environment focused on scalable backend systems, modern engineering practices and ongoing platform improvement. The role would suit someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, contributing to engineering discussions and working across high-availability systems within a collaborative development environment. The role is heavily backend focused and would suit someone with strong commercial experience across C#/.NET and modern API-driven development.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs using C#/.NET
- Contribute towards system improvements, modernisation and performance optimisation
- Work collaboratively within Agile engineering teams across the full software development lifecycle
- Support technical discussions around architecture, scalability and maintainability
- Contribute towards CI/CD, testing and engineering best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues within live systems
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, QA and wider technical teams
Key skills and experience:
- Strong commercial experience with C#/.NET
- Experience building and maintaining APIs and backend services
- Strong SQL / SQL Server experience
- Azure cloud exposure desirable
- Experience with microservices, distributed systems or event-driven architectures beneficial
- Experience working within Agile environments
- CI/CD and Azure DevOps exposure beneficial
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
