Overview

A leading financial technology business is looking to appoint a Data Engineer to join its growing data function and support the development of modern data platforms and analytical solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong SQL skills and an interest in data engineering to work alongside experienced engineers, data scientists and analytics professionals within a highly data-driven environment. You’ll help transform data from multiple sources into reliable, scalable datasets that support reporting, business intelligence and advanced analytics initiatives.

Working with modern cloud technologies and data platforms, you’ll play a key role in building and maintaining data pipelines, improving data quality and supporting the ongoing evolution of the organisation’s analytics capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and maintenance of data pipelines and analytical data models
  • Assist with transforming OLTP data into structured OLAP models and reporting datasets
  • Develop, monitor and troubleshoot SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Support enhancements to Microsoft Fabric data pipelines and processes
  • Assist with integrating new internal and external data sources
  • Contribute to ETL and ELT pipeline development and optimisation
  • Support data warehouse modelling and analytics initiatives
  • Assist with legacy data migration projects into Microsoft Fabric
  • Prepare datasets for Data Science and advanced analytics teams
  • Support ad hoc data requests and ensure data accuracy and quality

Requirements

  • Strong SQL Server and T‑SQL skills
  • Experience writing and troubleshooting SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Understanding of data modelling concepts including facts and dimensions
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT principles and data pipeline concepts
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data quality
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Desire to learn and develop within a data engineering environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric
  • Exposure to Azure Data Factory or Azure Data Lake
