A leading technology and financial services organisation is looking to appoint a SQL Developer to join its growing Data Engineering and Business Intelligence team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on business‑critical data, reporting solutions and SQL development projects that directly support decision‑making across the organisation. You’ll join an established team of data professionals where you’ll have the opportunity to develop your technical skills while working with large datasets and modern reporting platforms. The role is heavily SQL‑focused and would suit someone who enjoys solving data challenges, developing reporting solutions and working closely with stakeholders to deliver meaningful business insights. Longer term, there will also be opportunities to gain exposure to Azure, Microsoft Fabric and wider Data Engineering technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Write, develop and optimise SQL queries and database objects
- Develop and maintain stored procedures, views and reporting solutions
- Support business reporting, analytics and data insight requirements
- Investigate and resolve data quality and integrity issues
- Analyse large datasets to identify trends and opportunities
- Work with stakeholders to gather and understand reporting requirements
- Assist with data migration, integration and transformation projects
- Support the ongoing enhancement of reporting and analytics capabilities
- Contribute to database performance improvements and optimisation
- Collaborate with the wider Data Engineering team on future cloud data initiatives
Requirements
- Commercial experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and T‑SQL
- Experience writing and optimising complex SQL queries
- Understanding of joins, subqueries, aggregations and data manipulation techniques
- Experience creating and maintaining stored procedures and views
- Experience supporting reporting, analytics or business intelligence solutions
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to engage with stakeholders and understand business requirements
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Data Warehousing exposure
- Data Modelling knowledge
- Experience working within financial services or other data‑rich environments
