A well-established organisation with a diverse portfolio of commercial, rural and private interests is looking to appoint an Accounts Assistant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy transactional finance function where you'll play a key role in ensuring the accurate processing of financial information while supporting the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations. Working closely with the Transaction Team Lead, you'll gain exposure across purchase ledger, sales ledger, bank reconciliations and finance reporting within a collaborative and supportive environment. The role would suit someone who enjoys working with numbers, has excellent attention to detail and is looking to develop a long-term career within finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Process high volumes of purchase invoices, ensuring accuracy and correct VAT treatment
- Match, code and reconcile purchase invoices in line with company procedures
- Prepare weekly supplier payment runs
- Set up and maintain supplier accounts and account records
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Liaise with suppliers to resolve finance queries professionally
- Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate financial records
- Support sales ledger and rental ledger activities, including invoicing and receipt posting
- Assist with routine finance reporting and month-end activities
- Ensure compliance with finance controls, policies and procedures
Requirements
- Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Purchase Ledger or Finance Assistant role
- Good understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger and VAT processes
- Experience processing high volumes of financial transactions accurately
- Strong Microsoft Excel and finance system skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with suppliers and colleagues
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise workloads effectively
- Positive, proactive approach with a willingness to learn
- AAT qualification or studying towards AAT
- Experience with bank reconciliations and payment runs
- Experience supporting month-end processes
- Experience within a multi-site or commercial finance environment
- Knowledge of rental ledger or property-related finance
