AI is not replacing marketers.
Marketers embracing AI are replacing marketers who aren't.
We're looking for an 'AI experienced' marketing specialist to help us grow revenue for a diverse portfolio of customers, with a specific channel focus on Google Search - SEO, AEO and Paid Ads.
If you do not have specific experience in at least 2 of those areas of Google, please do not apply.
Tyneside Marketing is a small, agile North East agency helping local businesses grow through high-performing websites, SEO/AEO, Paid Ads on Google, META and more.
Our founder brings a client-obsessive mindset and over 20 years of business building experience to support local businesses helping them increase leads, revenue and growth.
An average client stays with us for 2+ years and counting.
Over the past 18 months, we've rebuilt how we work around AI tools, agents, and large language models and we're now hiring to help drive our agency forward.
This is a build-your-career role.
You'll sit alongside our founder on real client accounts, helping to grow organic SERP rankings, win AI citations, and run profitable Google Ad campaigns.
This is not an "AI does it all" job.
We use tools to support research, data-analysis and strategy building.
You will need your own experience, intuition and initiative to drive decisions, strategies and results.
The skills you'll build here will be about to be the most valuable skills you can build in this industry today.
What you'll do
- Research and identify keywords, SERP opportunities, and AI-answer opportunities for local clients across a diverse set of industries.
- Produce content strategies, briefs, articles and pages that rank, get cited and convert leads.
- Build and manage Google Search/Local Service Ad campaigns
- Pull performance data, interpret results, adjust/optimise, and produce client reports
- Use AI tools (Claude Code/Codex) every day, on real client work to support the above.
You won't do it alone at first. You'll work alongside our founder to develop your processes, taking on more ownership as you go.
- You will probably succeed if
- You are willing takes risks, accept feedback and are happy to be wrong.
Successful marketing is science, not art.
Trial and error, learning from mistakes, and rapid iteration is critical.
- You are self-motivated with contagious amounts of initiative
- You use AI tools every day, as a habit, not a gimmick and are constantly "mind-blown" by what Claude Code/Codex can do
- You have at least a baseline understanding of how Google search works, both organic and paid.
You understand keywords, relevance, intent and topical authority (we will not be teaching you the basics of Google and you will need to demonstrate this during an in-person interview)
- You have a working understanding of SEO, AEO and Paid Search, the kind you'd typically pick up from hands-on projects, a placement, freelance, or a year or two in a role.
We care that you can do it, not how long you've done it.
- You have taste: you can tell good work from AI slop, and it really bothers you when it's slop. Details really matter here.
- You are curious, sceptical of what AI gives you, and willing to overrule it when you think you're right
- You live in the North East and are happy to work from a North Tyneside office 3-5 days per week (TBC).
- You will not succeed if
- You don't understand how Google works under the hood
- You want an easy job with a fixed career ladder and a big-agency feel
- You need step-by-step instructions for everything
- You aren't willing to take risks
- You think AI is overhyped, or scary, or that you're faster than it.
What we offer
- £24,000 gross starting salary, plus performance and client-retention bonuses that should take realistic annual earnings past £30,000 as you grow into the role
- A generous AI tooling budget: Claude, Chat GPT, whatever else you need
- Direct mentorship from our founder on every client during client hand-over
- 3 to 5 days a week in a North Tyneside office (TBC)
- Development of a genuinely valuable skill set, and real influence over results for the businesses we serve.
