HOURS: Varied. Staff are required to offer a minimum of 20 hours availability per month including weekends, Bank Holidays and night duty.

Pay rate between £12.76 per hour and £23.61 per hour.

Tynedale Hospice at Home has proudly supported the communities of Tynedale, Ponteland and West Northumberland for over 30 years. Tynedale Hospice at Home is a forward thinking, inclusive registered Charity providing high quality, compassionate palliative and end of life nursing care and support to patients in their own home.

We employ a range of qualified and unqualified staff across nursing and therapy groups, with all our services offered free of charge. As we grow our services to meet the needs of our community we are looking to appoint suitably qualified and experienced Support Workers to join our Nursing Care Services Bank, predominantly to work night shift.

Main duties of the job

The Hospice Support Worker (HSW) will be responsible for directly supporting the Tynedale Hospice at Home Care Service with a range of delegated duties including the delivery of personal and delegated nursing care to individuals with life limiting illness and their families. Duties will be carried out under the supervision and guidance of a registered nurse, however the post holder will be expected to work alone with access to professional advice and guidance when required.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Experience working in a health or social care setting with NVQ Level 3 in health or social care setting / equivalent experience.
  • You should possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Car owner/driver with business insurance.
  • Sessional Bank staff will offer a minimum of 20 hours clinical availability each month and attend a minimum of 50% Nursing Care team meetings.

Employment details

There is an expectation that sessional Bank staff will offer a minimum of 20 hours clinical availability each month and will attend minimum of 50% Nursing Care team meetings. All posts are subject to a six-month probationary period. Successful applicants are required to provide an enhanced disclosure with a check of the adult barred list. Disclosure expense will be met by Tynedale Hospice at Home. All posts are subject to eligibility to work in the UK (no sponsor licence). Please be aware that we do not have a sponsor licence, and are therefore only able to appoint candidates who are eligible to work in the UK.
