Essential criteria
- Experience of working directly with young people and/or adults
- Experience of working within safeguarding or managing safeguarding concerns
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, managing own workload
- Experience of working with external agencies and stakeholders
Qualifications
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade C / 4 or above (or equivalent)
- Willingness to complete appropriate Safeguarding Officer training within the first six weeks of employment

- Ability to problem solve and make quick, well-informed decisions in challenging situations
- Ability to prioritise tasks and take initiative in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Excellent ICT skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with professionals, parents and young people

- Reliable, trustworthy and able to maintain strict confidentiality
- Enthusiastic and proactive, with a commitment to developing services and positive working relationships
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends, and able to work across College sites when required

- Educated to degree level
- Counselling, Mentoring or Health & Social Care qualification
- Understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation, including types of abuse, neglect and associated risk factors
