This is a full-time role for a Mechanical Engineer, based in Bridgend, with flexibility for some remote work. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with a strong teamwork ethic. The role will involve the design and development of mechanical components and systems for cutting-edge audio products for use in the automotive environment, employing 3D CAD and using processes and tools from ITAF 16494 to deliver robust products and documentation to meet the needs of our customers.
Core Responsibilities:
- Design and engineer acoustic transducers, amplifiers and enclosure assemblies and components for automotive applications.
- Assembly BOM creation and management.
- Perform DFMEA analysis with the acoustic design team.
- Design for Manufacture (DFM) / Automation (DFA) / Quality (DFQ) / Cost (DFC).
- Component & Product mechanical simulation using COMSOL.
- Interfacing with Suppliers on DFM and part development and manufacture.
- First off parts inspection against drawing & design intent.
- Application of statistical tolerancing analysis techniques to determine best performance / reliability/ cost component design.
- Accurate component part weight development based on material properties.
- Communicate designs to laboratory to prepare CAD models for prototyping and testing in real life environments.
- Use of 3D CAD packages such as SolidWorks for development of designs.
- Support RFQ activities.
- Travel to customer and Tymphany sites to support project activities.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Mechanical Engineering principles and Machine Design.
- Ideally 3-5 years experience in a similar role.
- Advanced skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Experience, or a willingness to learn simulation software and techniques.
- Experience in Project Management to plan, organize, and deliver tasks efficiently.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with Research and Development (R&D) processes.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in the audio or manufacturing industry is a plus.
