As the Automotive industry continues to evolve in an unprecedented and historical pace, the need for new audio solutions is ever present. It is Tymphany’s intention to play a leading role in this new vehicle audio landscape. This job encompasses the development of industry leading automotive transducers and systems from early development to manufacturing.

A TE Engineer in this role is expected to work alongside the Mechanical Engineering team to ensure products are designed with quality, cost and timing in mind. A person doing this role is fully responsible for the Acoustic performance of the products they are working on. A TE engineer is responsible for keeping all historical design data following internal and Tymphany procedures. The Engineer will also work with the Acoustic Team to ensure facilities, equipment, procedures, etc. are all up-to-date and aligned with current needs. The TE Engineer goes a step further and applies their knowledge into research activities and can also lead and manage interns and/or graduate engineers, supporting team growth. As Tymphany is a global company, a Transducer Engineer is expected to work collaboratively with all other departments of the business ensuring projects run smoothly.

A mix of simulations, measurements, prototype builds, management, research, validation and documentation is the core of the responsibilities of this role, and innovation is highly encouraged!

Responsibilities:
  • Own and lead multiple or technically complex transducer development projects, from concept through to production.
  • Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and system teams to deliver fully integrated acoustic solutions.
  • Optimise designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability in coordination with production teams.
  • Implement and validate new simulations to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Plan, develop and test prototypes, iterating designs based on acoustic and mechanical performance.
  • Lead setup and execution of detailed electroacoustic measurements and reliability tests.
  • Analyse acoustic data to support design decisions and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to BOM generation, tolerance analysis, and documentation for mass production.
  • Own the generation and maintenance of engineering documentation, including design specifications and test reports.
  • Participate in the invention disclosure process by documenting novel design concepts and test methods to support the filing of patents and protection of company IP.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of internal design standards, tools, measurement capabilities and workflows.
  • Manage the mentoring of Acoustic interns and Acoustic Graduate Engineers.
  • Act as a key technical contact for customers, suppliers, and senior internal stakeholders.
  • Attend trainings, seminars, conferences and industry events to promote Tymphany/Peerless Automotive vertical.
  • Travel to other Tymphany sites to support global projects.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Degree in acoustics, audio engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Self-motivated, passionate about audio and have a genuine interest in electroacoustics.
  • Solid experience in transducer design, modelling, and testing and solid foundation in electroacoustic theory and transducer.
  • Proficient with acoustic simulation tools (e.g. COMSOL) and measurement systems (e.g. Klippel, APx).
  • Strong planning and project ownership mindset.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Proactive and curious, with a passion for solving technical problems.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with customers to support technical discussions and clarify requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with acoustic engineering judgment.
  • Organised and capable of handling multiple tasks within defined deadlines, strong self-management skills.
  • Skilled in presenting technical concepts and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable interpreting test data and contributing to technical discussions.
  • Innovative and adaptable, with a commitment to technical excellence.
