In 2017 Tymphany opened a new research and development centre in Bridgend, South Wales. We have one of the most advanced ½ space Anechoic chambers in Europe. Our R&D Centre is dedicated to provide world-class facilities for the development of transducers and speaker systems with a focus in Automotive Audio.

Role Description

Tymphany is seeking passionate individuals who are eager to create innovative designs for our multinational company and help us make a difference in the world. As a part of our young, dynamic, and innovative team, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the best professionals in the industry and design products that will be used worldwide. We are offering 12 month’s long student placements to suitable candidates

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and evaluation of transducers and speaker systems.
  • Use of acoustic simulation software (e.g. COMSOL).
  • Use of acoustic measurement systems (e.g. Klippel R&D System, Audio Precision APx).
  • Assist the transducer engineering team during the product development process.
  • Establish, test and validate new development equipment and tools.
  • Prototype new parts (e.g., 3D printing, CNC router, manual assembly).
  • Subjective listening testing.
  • Reliability and power testing of new products
  • Maintenance and acoustic calibration of equipment.

Skills and characteristics:

· Currently studying a university course in acoustics/audio engineering or a related subject.

· Self-motivated, passionate about audio and have a genuine interest in electroacoustics.

· Knowledge of transducer principles gained from a good academic foundation or via practical experience.

· Strong self-management.

· Ability to meet deadlines through excellent planning and organisational skills.

· High attention to detail.

· Clear communicator with very good interpersonal skills.

· A creative thinker who is able to offer new ideas.
