Tyler Hill Consulting (now part of Zenexa Group) is a renewable energy developer that specialises in the end-to-end development of onshore renewable energy assets across the UK, from origination all the way through to RTB. Tyler Hill Consulting recently received platform-level funding to develop, build and operate our 5GW pipeline of onshore renewable energy assets. Zenexa Renewables Limited has been set up to own these projects long-term to become a leading IPP platform to support the UK's transition towards net zero.
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Head of Procurement to join our growing team. This newly created role will be pivotal in shaping and executing our procurement strategy across a growing portfolio of utility-scale solar, onshore wind, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects in the UK. The successful candidate will take ownership of our supply chain, contractor framework, and contract management capability, driving value, managing risk, and building the commercial foundations needed to deliver projects at pace and scale. This is an outstanding opportunity for a procurement leader who combines deep knowledge of the UK renewables supply chain and has the commercial and leadership skills to build a high-performing function from the ground up.
- Develop and own the end-to-end procurement strategy for utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Lead competitive tender processes for the selection of EPC contractors, specialist subcontractors, and key equipment suppliers, ensuring robust evaluation criteria and value-for-money outcomes.
- Negotiate, award, and administer contracts for major project scopes, including civil works, electrical balance of plant, grid connection packages, and long-lead equipment (e.g. transformers, inverters, switchgear, cabling).
- Develop and manage a preferred supplier and contractor framework, establishing long-term strategic relationships that support the company's growing development pipeline.
- Drive commercial risk management across the supply chain, identifying and mitigating risks related to pricing, availability, lead times, and contractor performance.
- Manage the full contract lifecycle from RFQ through to final account, including variation management, milestone tracking, and dispute resolution.
- Collaborate closely with the Development, Engineering, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure procurement activities are aligned with project requirements, planning conditions, and grid connection milestones.
- Oversee the procurement of grid connection assets and associated infrastructure in coordination with DNOs/TOs, ensuring compliance with relevant connection agreements and ENA standards.
- Implement and maintain procurement governance frameworks, policies, and reporting tools to provide visibility of spend, performance, and pipeline commitments to senior leadership.
- Ensure all procurement activity complies with applicable UK regulations, including relevant health and safety obligations, Modern Slavery Act requirements, and sustainability commitments.
- Lead, recruit, and develop a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of commercial rigour, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Provide regular reporting to the Board and senior stakeholders on procurement pipeline, committed spend, contractor performance, and risk exposure.
10+ years of experience in a procurement or commercial management role, with at least 5 years at a senior level within the UK renewable energy, power, or broader infrastructure sector.
- Demonstrated experience procuring for utility-scale solar, onshore wind, and/or BESS projects, including EPC contracts and equipment supply agreements.
- Strong knowledge of UK contract law and experience with NEC, FIDIC, or bespoke EPC contract structures.
- Proven track record of running competitive tender processes and negotiating high-value contracts with EPC contractors, subcontractors, and OEMs.
- Experience managing supply chain risk, including exposure to commodity pricing, equipment availability, and contractor capacity constraints.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess total cost of ownership, risk allocation, and value engineering opportunities.
- Proficiency in procurement and contract management tools; Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, Business, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and stakeholder offices across the UK as required.
