Join the Tyler Grange ecology tribe! We are looking for a Senior Ecologist with a specialism in birds to help us lead exciting projects, overseeing everything from:
- Preliminary Ecology Appraisals
- Ecological Impact Assessments
- Habitats Regulations Assessments
- Mitigation Strategies
You should be adept at scoping, designing, and leading ecological surveys. Be comfortable forging strong bonds with our clients to win work for the team and yourself, to build a standout client and site portfolio. We’re also looking for a leader to mentor our budding consultants and graduates.

- Top academic qualifications in ecology or biological sciences
- To be a CIEEM member working towards Chartership
- A specialism in Ornithology, with a track record of scoping and undertaking breeding and non-breeding bird surveys for large sites
- Experience in Habitat Regulations Assessments and stakeholder engagement with Natural England, and design of mitigation strategies
- In-depth understanding of the legislative and planning policy framework
- Excellent survey skills including extended Phase I/UKHabs, specialised species surveys
- Experience liaising with clients, statutory bodies, and LPAs
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills, ensuring clarity for both clients and peers
- Robust and precise report writing and reviewing capabilities
- Exceptional project management skills: leading, mentoring, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, all while exceeding client expectations
- A proven track record in business development and securing your own projects
