We are looking for aspiring Landscape Planners to join us at Tyler Grange for an exciting opportunity on a 6 month contract. You will be given the opportunity to learn everything you need to know about working as a Landscape Architect in the field of Landscape Planning, from the very basics to some exciting hands-on projects. Landscape planners have an important role in tackling biodiversity and climate emergencies and if you enjoy getting stuck in and immersing yourself in a thriving and energetic industry, then you’ll fit right in and be in a great position to make a positive impact on the built and natural environments.

The tasks you’ll come across will be varied, to say the least. You will juggle a combination of juicy urban and rural projects you can sink your teeth into, offer assistance to our in-house ecology and arboriculture teams to broaden your knowledge and you will be adept at changing priorities, but there will be quieter moments to take stock. No day will be the same and we certainly offer variety. There are a total of four roles available, with one successful candidate to be based in each of our offices located in London, Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff.

The successful candidates will work together under a specially designed entry-level training programme for a period of six months, with the primary guidance and support of two people in the business: 1x training leader to guide you day to day and 1x technical lead to shadow and learn from. Candidates will need to be thorough and methodical in their approach, with a proven analytical mind and the ability to research a subject and present their findings both written and verbal methods.

This role will require you to provide technical support as well as assisting with the growth of the business. Whilst your primary role is to support the team, you will be given your own responsibilities, and possible tasks you will be required to undertake which will include:

  • Site Visits (with viewpoint photography from the local landscape surrounding the Site)
  • Assist with the production of Landscape and Visual Appraisals and Impact Assessments.
  • Shadow team members to team meetings and workshops.
  • Baseline research and analysis, including the basics of QGIS.
  • Assist with strategic landscape mitigation and enhancement proposals.
  • Liaise with members of multi-disciplinary project teams.

Tyler Grange is committed to setting the standard and raising the bar across landscape planning. To be successful we are looking for new members of our tribe who have:

  • An interest in landscape planning and the planning system.
  • Academic qualifications in landscape architecture, geography, or a similar environmental discipline.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and management skills.
  • A proactive approach that complements our values and collaborative working.
  • A full UK driving license so that you can join experienced colleagues on-site and immerse yourself into the projects from the start. Your own vehicle isn't required as we offer hire cars for any site work.

About Tyler Grange: At TG we value innovation over convention; the usual route isn’t always our chosen path. We care deeply and celebrate loudly. Our Tribe support each other, work or play, and we’re always looking for the next big opportunity. Every day is a blend of meaningful work, good laughs and honest conversations. We also believe in giving back and offer a 4-day working week, on a salary equal to 5 days, so 80% of your time for 100% pay. We are also B-Corp certified, putting people and the planet at the heart of everything we do.

To apply please send us your CV and complete the application form below. We are not accepting applications via Agencies for this role.
