What you will be doing

Tyler Grange are seeking to recruit a dynamic, commercial and operational Team Lead for our Wales Ecology team, encompassing our Cardiff office and working closely with our South West Ecology team in Bristol and Exeter. You will work closely and collaboratively with the Operational Leads for the South West, London, Birmingham and Manchester, under the leadership of the Regional Ecology Directors for the South and North. You’ll also work alongside technical leads and wider business functions to deliver the Ecology strategy.

This role suits someone with excellent communication and people management skills, strong attention to detail, and who thrives in a fast‑paced, supportive and fun working environment. A proven track record in the ecology or planning industry, with experience in leadership, team management, pipeline review and an interest in sales and business development, will be key to success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Regional Ecology Director (South) to deliver targets for the Wales Ecology team as part of the annual Ecology Strategy and wider TG business strategy.
  • Support the Wales and South West team in analysing operational data, including pipeline, opportunities and sales actions.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Ecology Director (South) on HR decision‑making (in liaison with the TG HR Lead), recruitment, and partner (subcontractor) use.
  • Work closely with the central resource coordination team to ensure efficient delivery of workload across the working area.
  • Partner with Technical Leads to ensure appropriate technical support is in place, identifying strategies to address skills gaps and regional requirements.
  • Complete the monthly Operations Report for the Wales Ecology team.
  • Work collaboratively with other office operational leads to problem‑solve and support project and pipeline delivery.
  • Work with regional sales representatives to ensure sales actions align to the wider sales strategy and the Wales Ecology team’s operational and technical needs.
  • Provide project support as both Project Manager and Project Director, helping to mentor and support junior project managers on large or complex projects.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Can act as a proactive leader for the Wales Ecology team and mentor project managers across Ecology.
  • Is a confident communicator who embodies our values: Honesty, Caring, Belonging, Opportunity and Enjoyment.
  • Holds an academic qualification in ecology or biological sciences.
  • Has excellent attention to detail, with the ability to analyse data, identify solutions and review written work to a high standard.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of the legislative and planning policy framework relevant to our industry.
  • Is enthusiastic, engaging and able to build positive relationships with peers, contacts and clients.
  • Shows a commitment to excellence, including innovating how we deliver for clients and exploring new sectors.
  • Is a full member of CIEEM, or a Chartered Ecologist / working toward Chartership.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence.

Salary

Tyler Grange operates a transparent pay structure with fixed pay points within each grade. Salary will depend on experience and suitability for the role, aligned to the Associate A, B or C pay points:

  • Associate A: £52,040
  • Associate B: £55,960
