Role Overview
As a Mid-Level Full-Stack Engineer (React + Go) at Tyk, you\βll be responsible for designing and building compelling solutions for our Dashboard and API Gateway products. You\βll implement performant, accessible React frontends and reliable Go services and APIs. You\βll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, efficient solutions while championing continuous improvement in our software engineering lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Ownership
- Contribute to solutions design for medium to high complexity problems, adhering to established solution design principles
- Contribute to distributed system designs with security-first principles, ensuring no security test defects or production leakage
- Contribute to the direction of dashboard UI development and API functionality
- Build and extend product capabilities across the stack, including React frontends and Go-based APIs (traffic routing, security, authentication, and authorization where relevant)
Engineering Excellence
- Write high-quality code that satisfies user stories across React and Go services
- Implement best practice coding principles (reusable components, scalable code) on both frontend and backend
- Troubleshoot and fix issues with quality pull requests that pass tests
- Ensure adherence to software engineering processes to avoid technical debt
- Adopt continuous improvement in engineering practices (CI/CD, testing, automation)
- Practice Test-Driven Development (TDD) where it adds clear value to ensure robust, well-tested code
Mentorship & Team Player
- Participate in and occasionally lead code reviews, providing quality feedback before approval
- Offer constructive suggestions for support when appropriate to your colleagues.

Quality & Documentation
- Prioritize documentation-first development, ensuring docs are written pre-code and kept current
- Meet acceptance criteria for assigned tasks before PR merges
- Fully adhere to Scrum process and Definition of Done
- Drive a culture of writing automated tests for every new feature and bug fix
- Advocate for and demonstrate TDD practices in daily development work
Frontend Focus (React)
- Strong JavaScript foundations (ES6+, async/await, closures, event loop, modules)
- Proficient with React hooks, composition, controlled components, and context; avoid common anti-patterns
- Sensible state management (i.e Redux, context) and data-fetching patterns (caching, retries, error states)
- Performance best practices: memoization, virtualization, code-splitting, lazy loading, minimizing re-renders; use React Profiler and browser devtools
- Secure frontend practices (XSS/CSRF mitigation, CSP, input sanitization)
- Testing with Jest and React Testing Library
- Understanding of modern build tooling (Vite/Webpack), bundling, and asset delivery
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Solid engineering experience across frontend and backend, with:
- Experience building production React applications
- Experience building backend services/APIs in Go (or strong Go exposure alongside another typed backend language)
- Understanding of distributed systems design fundamentals and secure API design (REST and/or gRPC)
- Familiarity with Redis and MongoDB
- Experience with software engineering best practices (unit testing, code reviews, design documentation)
- Experience in applying SOLID principles and Test-Driven Development methodologies
