Friend is a leading Minecraft entertainment brand, part of Tycer Media Limited. Our YouTube channel reaches 40+ million viewers each month with imaginative, story-driven Minecraft videos designed for children and young teens. Our mission is to craft entertaining narratives that combine humor, spectacle, and heartfelt moments, keeping our audience engaged week after week.
We’re seeking a full-time writer to join our creative team on a permanent basis. This role is remote (UK-based) and suited to someone with a passion for storytelling, YouTube, and Minecraft. You’ll play a key part in shaping our weekly content pipeline, producing multiple scripts with strong structure, pacing, and character voices.
Responsibilities
- Write 7–8 Minecraft scripts per week, structured in our 7-10-scene format, balancing humor, action, and emotional investment.
- Develop story concepts and research ideas that resonate with our target audience (ages 10–18), both male and female.
- Prepare supporting materials such as outlines, synopses, and item/gameplay notes.
- Collaborate with the wider creative team (writers, editors, voice actors, developers) to ensure stories align with production and character arcs.
- Generate fresh video ideas inspired by trends, analytics, and audience feedback.
- Review and revise scripts based on feedback from the director and team.
- Contribute to long-term storylines, ensuring continuity and character consistency across videos.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of Minecraft mechanics and potential for storytelling, or willingness to learn quickly.
- Passion for YouTube content creation, with an understanding of how to attract and retain viewers and the constant platform changes.
- Ability to write engaging, easy-to-follow stories tailored to children and young teens.
- Proven experience in creative writing, scriptwriting, or similar entertainment media.
- Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced production environment (7–8 scripts weekly).
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a remote environment.
- Based in the UK, with right to work in the UK.
