Ty Hafan is a beautiful children's hospice located on the picturesque Vale of Glamorgan coastline. Covering the South, East and West Wales, Ty Hafan offers a beautiful, newly refurbished working environment set in idyllic grounds a short distance from the metropolitan area of Cardiff.
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Paediatric Nurse to join our established Nursing team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
About the Role
The role will be to work as part of the Care Services team working flexibly across the service to provide safe, effective and compassionate paediatric palliative care. You'll be responsible for clinical assessments, developing comprehensive care plans, and liaising closely with internal and external partners to deliver seamless, high-quality care. This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll use your specialist expertise to support children, young people, and their families, whilst working collaboratively with our wider multidisciplinary team. The post is initially a 2 year fixed term contract with continuation beyond this dependent on the impact of the role and securing funds. The role is full time (37.5 hours) and will be primarily Monday to Friday but a degree of flexibility to meet family needs will be required and there will also be some out of hours on call duties.

About You
We are looking for an experienced paediatric nurse with extensive knowledge of paediatric palliative care. You'll be a Registered Nurse (Child) with a relevant post-registration qualification in palliative care or equivalent experience. You will have experience in supporting end of life care and bereavement work, and of providing support during periods of high anxiety and stress. You'll be confident managing complex clinical situations and be a role model with the ability to influence and motivate colleagues. You will have knowledge of Safeguarding practices and confidence to recognise and act on concerns.

Our team at Ty Hafan are supportive and inclusive, we value individual differences, and understand experience can come from many avenues, therefore it is not essential to have previous experience working in a palliative care environment. In paediatric palliative care, the approach is tailored to children and young people from diagnosis of life-limiting or life-shortening conditions and includes support for their families throughout the child's life and into bereavement if needed. It is important to remember that paediatric palliative care is so much more than just end of life care, Ty Hafan holds enhancing quality of life at its very core.
