Role Purpose The Integration Analyst is responsible for providing the technical analysis, discovery, planning, and delivery support required to successfully design, migrate, modernise, and decommission integration services across complex programmes.

Working closely with architects, engineers, product owners, delivery managers, and business stakeholders, the role acts as the bridge between business requirements and technical implementation.

The Integration Analyst develops a deep understanding of applications, APIs, integrations, data flows, dependencies, and operational processes to support informed technical decision-making.

Unlike a traditional business analyst role, the Integration Analyst operates primarily within the technical domain, helping delivery teams understand existing integration estates, define migration requirements, assess impacts and dependencies, maintain delivery backlogs, and produce the technical artefacts necessary to support successful delivery.

The role combines analytical thinking, stakeholder engagement, technical understanding, and delivery support to reduce ambiguity, improve planning accuracy, and accelerate delivery outcomes.

  • Facilitate workshops with business, application, infrastructure, and engineering teams Analyse existing APIs, services, interfaces, messaging solutions, file transfers, and system integrations.
  • Document interface behaviours, protocols, data contracts, dependencies, and service interactions.
  • Support assessment of applications and integrations for migration and transformation.
  • Analyse technical dependencies and identify migration sequencing requirements. Create and maintain high-quality user stories, technical stories, and backlog items.
  • Ensure backlog items contain appropriate context, requirements, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.

Produce and maintain technical discovery reports, analysis outputs, and design support documentation.

  • Develop application and integration inventories. Success will be measured through:
  • High-quality technical discovery outputs delivered on time.
  • Accurate identification of integration dependencies, risks, and constraints.

Essential Experience

Experience working as a Technical Analyst, Integration Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role.

  • Strong understanding of system integrations, APIs, and enterprise application landscapes.

API-led and event-driven integration architectures.

  • REST, SOAP, messaging, and file-based integration technologies.
  • Open API specifications and API management platforms.
  • Cloud migration, application modernisation, or data centre exit programmes.
  • Dependency mapping and application portfolio assessment.
  • Jira, Azure Dev Ops, Confluence, or similar delivery tooling.
  • Public sector or large-scale transformation programme experience.
  • Experience supporting decommissioning, migration, or technical transformation initiatives
