The Technical Analyst sits at the centre of the core data platform, acting as the primary point of understanding for how Microsoft Fabric and Azure AI Foundry operate in practice. This is not a development role. The focus is on eliciting, documenting and managing technical requirements, non-functional requirements and operational characteristics of the platform. The Technical Analyst ensures that delivery teams, platform engineers and stakeholders share a common, accurate understanding of what the platform can do, how it behaves under load, where its boundaries sit and what operational disciplines are needed to keep it running. Operating within a consulting model, this role deploys across engagements where Fabric and Foundry form the backbone of data and AI capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and document technical and non‑functional requirements for Microsoft Fabric and Azure AI Foundry workloads.
- Translate business needs into clear technical specifications and maintain end‑to‑end requirements traceability.
- Assess platform performance, scalability, capacity, availability and security, ensuring workloads meet agreed NFRs.
- Evaluate Fabric and Foundry operational behaviour, including capacity usage, throttling, failover, and data refresh patterns.
- Produce operational readiness assessments, runbooks, governance documentation, and technical briefings.
- Analyse platform telemetry and monitoring data to inform capacity planning and identify risks or anomalies.
- Stay current with Fabric and Foundry capabilities, updates and feature changes, and assess their impact on workloads.
- Communicate technical findings clearly to engineering teams and senior stakeholders, facilitating workshops where needed.
- Operate within consulting delivery frameworks, contributing to project scoping, solution design and client handovers.
Skills and Experience
- Strong technical analysis capabilities with experience documenting technical and non‑functional requirements.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric (lakehouses, warehouses, Data Factory, notebooks, OneLake, capacity units).
- Working knowledge of Azure AI Foundry (managed endpoints, model registry, compute tiers, experiment tracking).
- Understanding of performance, scalability, availability, disaster recovery, security and compliance requirements.
- Experience analysing platform monitoring/telemetry to support operational and capacity decisions.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to mixed audiences.
- Experience in consulting, client‑facing delivery, or professional services environments.
