We are working with a central government department to appoint an experienced Commercial / Procurement Business Partner to support a high-profile, first-of-its-kind national programme operating to a compressed delivery timeline. This role suits a senior commercial professional with strong end-to-end procurement experience, able to operate confidently in complex, fast-paced public sector environments.
Key Contract Details
- Contract Length: 6 months (extension possible)
- Location: London
- On-site Requirement: Tuesdays on-site (core team day), 1-2 days per week on-site thereafter
- Security Clearance: Active SC preferred, however lapsed or eligible is fine
- Rate: Up to £750 per day (Inside IR35)
The Role
You will act as a senior commercial partner within a multi-disciplinary team (commercial, technical and delivery specialists), supporting the delivery of a major UK public sector programme with a target delivery date of December. Responsibilities will include:
- Owning and shaping commercial strategy and procurement approach
- Leading end-to-end procurement activity across complex, high-value contracts
- Providing expert advice on public sector procurement regulation and commercial policy
- Leading negotiations and ensuring value for money outcomes
- Engaging and influencing senior stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams
- Operating at Grade 6 (or equivalent) level within a delivery-focused environment
Essential Experience
- Strong commercial and procurement background
- Proven delivery across the full procurement lifecycle
- Experience managing large-scale, complex procurements
- Deep understanding of public sector commercial frameworks
- Comfortable working in ambiguous, high-pressure environments
- CIPS qualification (or equivalent)
Desirable Experience
- Digital / technology commercial environments
- Exposure to cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Demonstrable negotiation success with clear commercial outcomes
- Blend of public and private sector experience (not solely government)
