  • Transaction Analyst - Hybrid (Birmingham)

We are seeking a proactive and detail-focused Transaction Analyst to join our finance team and play a vital role in supporting the smooth, accurate and efficient delivery of finance operations across our growing international business.

You will be responsible for a broad range of core finance activities, including contractor payments, client and contractor invoicing, accounts payable, collections support, cash allocation, bank reconciliations and reporting.

Working within a modern finance function supporting clients across more than 15 countries and managing payments for over 600 contractors globally, you will ensure transactions are processed accurately, on time and in line with strong financial controls.

This is more than a transactional processing role; you will contribute to maintaining high-quality financial data, resolving exceptions, improving processes and supporting a resilient, scalable finance operation that enables the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process contractor timesheets, contractor payment runs, client invoicing, contractor invoicing, support collections activities, and cash allocation.
  • Manage accounts payable invoices, supplier payments, non-contractor payments, and support daily cash postings, ensuring transactions are correctly recorded and supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Support preparation of bank reconciliations, transaction schedules, working capital reports, and month-end finance information in line with agreed deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate contractor, customer, supplier, employee, and banking records, proactively identifying and escalating any discrepancies or data quality issues.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of all transactions and approvals to support compliance, governance, and audit requirements.
  • Investigate transaction exceptions, queries, and discrepancies, identifying root causes and working with colleagues to resolve issues efficiently and prevent recurrence.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of finance systems, automation initiatives, AI-enabled workflows, and process enhancements.
  • Produce reliable, well-structured financial data to support management reporting, financial planning, business partnering activities, and commercial decision-making.
  • Work closely with the Finance Operations Manager, Operations Lead, Payroll Lead, Finance Business Partner, and wider finance team to ensure activities are delivered accurately, efficiently, and in line with business requirements.
  • Support finance operations across multiple countries, ensuring compliance with local payment, tax, payroll, and supplier requirements, and escalating potential risks where appropriate.
  • Develop knowledge across a broad range of transactional finance activities to provide effective holiday and absence cover within the team while maintaining appropriate financial controls.
  • Skill and Experience
  • Experience working within a transactional finance environment.
  • Ability to process high volumes of transactions accurately while maintaining robust financial controls and meeting deadlines.
  • Good understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, audit requirements and the importance of maintaining accurate and compliant financial records.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including Copilot-enabled functionality, and confident working with finance systems, reporting tools, structured datasets and reconciliations.
  • Hands-on experience using In Time within a contractor, recruitment, professional services or similar environment, with the ability to manage contractor timesheets, payments, invoicing and related finance processes accurately.
  • Experience working with General Ledger systems and maintaining accurate financial records across multiple transaction types.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of how accurate financial processing supports cash flow, contractor experience, client service, financial reporting and overall business performance.
  • A proactive and improvement-focused mindset, with an interest in automation, AI-enabled solutions and continuous improvement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to investigate issues, collaborate with stakeholders and escalate risks appropriately.
  • Experience using Sage Intacct, Bullhorn or similar ERP, finance, billing, contractor management, workflow automation or reporting systems.
  • Experience working within a technology consultancy, professional services, contractor-led, private equity-backed or high-growth organisation.
  • Experience supporting finance operations across multiple countries, legal entities, currencies or jurisdictions.
  • Exposure to finance transformation initiatives, process improvement programmes, exception management, process mapping or SOP development.
  • Experience supporting or implementing finance systems enhancements, workflow automation initiatives or AI-enabled process improvements.

Education

  • Good digital confidence, with the ability to work accurately across finance systems, spreadsheets, workflow tools and structured data sources.
  • AAT part-qualified, studying towards AAT, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent finance qualification, or qualified by relevant transactional finance experience.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in finance, accounting, business, economics, data analytics or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Training or certification in Excel, Power BI, automation tools, data analysis, finance systems or continuous improvement methodologies would be beneficial.
