We're looking for an experienced Technical Architect to join a multidisciplinary government team, helping shape the design and delivery of complex cloud-based platforms. This is a hands-on architecture role focused on systems design rather than software development. You'll take user requirements, feature requests, and technical challenges and turn them into clear, implementable designs and technical specifications for engineering teams. Working across DevOps, software engineering, and data teams, you'll play a key role in ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with long-term platform strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support systems design across AWS cloud environments
  • Identify design issues and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical challenges
  • Ensure solutions align with modern cloud, containerisation, and Infrastructure as Code principles
  • Communicate effectively across both technical and non-technical stakeholders

What We're Looking For

  • Strong experience designing systems within AWS environments
  • Good understanding of: AWS services, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform (Infrastructure as Code principles), GitHub Actions / CI/CD
  • Experience producing detailed technical designs rather than purely high-level architecture
  • Strong collaboration skills across multidisciplinary technical teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience creating architecture documentation and system diagrams (Mermaid knowledge beneficial)

Ideal Background

  • Previous experience as a: Technical Architect, Cloud Architect, DevOps Engineer moving into architecture, Cloud Engineer with architecture experience
  • Experience designing analytical or data platforms
  • Government experience desirable but not essential

Technical Architect required to design AWS-based cloud solutions for complex government platforms.
