The Role
- We are looking for an experienced
- Dev Ops Engineer to join a major digital transformation programme for a
Central Government client .
You will work within a cloud-native
AWS and Java environment , helping to build, maintain and optimise the infrastructure, deployment pipelines and cloud platforms underpinning critical public-facing digital services.
The successful candidate will have strong
Central Government/public sector experience alongside a proven background in Dev Ops, AWS cloud engineering, automation and modern agile delivery environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain infrastructure across
AWS cloud environments .
- Build and support
CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and efficient software delivery.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration and deployment.
- Support
Java-based applications and microservices .
- Implement monitoring, alerting and logging solutions to maintain platform reliability and performance.
- Support platform security, compliance and operational resilience.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment and performance issues across development and production environments.
- Promote Dev Ops best practice, automation and continuous improvement.
- Support disaster recovery, backup and business continuity activities.
- Collaborate closely with Architects, Developers, Security and Delivery teams.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a
Dev Ops Engineer within large-scale digital transformation programmes.
- Strong
Central Government/public sector experience .
- Significant hands-on experience with
AWS .
- Strong
- Infrastructure as Code experience using
Terraform, Cloud Formation or similar .
- Experience building and maintaining
CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI, Azure Dev Ops or similar.
- Experience supporting
Java-based applications and microservices architectures .
- Strong
Linux administration and scripting skills using Bash, Python or similar.
- Experience with containerisation technologies including
Docker and Kubernetes .
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging technologies such as
Cloud Watch, Grafana, ELK and Prometheus .
- Strong understanding of cloud security, networking and operational best practices .
