Senior Java Developer (AWS) 6 months - Remote working £370 - £420 p/d INSIDE IR35 Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Java Developer to join a major Government programme delivering secure, cloud-native digital services. The successful candidate will have extensive experience building scalable Java applications within AWS environments and will play a key role in designing, developing, and enhancing microservices-based solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications. Build and enhance cloud-native services hosted within AWS environments. Develop scalable and secure microservices architectures. Collaborate with architects, DevOps engineers, business analysts, and QA teams to deliver high-quality digital services. Contribute to technical design discussions and architectural decisions. Develop and consume RESTful APIs and integrate with internal and external systems. Support continuous improvement initiatives across development practices and platform capabilities. Perform code reviews and promote engineering best practices. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across distributed systems. Mentor junior developers and contribute to the wider engineering community. Essential Skills & Experience Strong commercial Java development experience. Experience delivering solutions within AWS cloud environments. Proven experience building and supporting microservices architectures. Strong understanding of secure software development practices. Experience developing RESTful APIs and integration services. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. Experience working within Agile delivery teams. Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills. Previous experience delivering projects within Government or Public Sector organisations. Desirable Skills Knowledge of AWS services such as: ECS/EKS Lambda API Gateway S3 RDS CloudWatch
