Location: Predominantly remote with occasional/ad hoc travel to client sites

The Role
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a major digital transformation programme for a Central Government client.
You will work within a cloud-native AWS and Java environment, helping to build, maintain and optimise the infrastructure, deployment pipelines and cloud platforms underpinning critical public-facing digital services.
The successful candidate will have strong Central Government/public sector experience alongside a proven background in DevOps, AWS cloud engineering, automation and modern agile delivery environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain infrastructure across AWS cloud environments.
- Build and support CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and efficient software delivery.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration and deployment.
- Support Java-based applications and microservices.
- Implement monitoring, alerting and logging solutions to maintain platform reliability and performance.
- Support platform security, compliance and operational resilience.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment and performance issues across development and production environments.
- Promote DevOps best practice, automation and continuous improvement.
- Support disaster recovery, backup and business continuity activities.
- Collaborate closely with Architects, Developers, Security and Delivery teams.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer within large-scale digital transformation programmes.
- Strong Central Government/public sector experience.
