Experience with floorplan interpretation, including identifying racking layouts, equipment and circuit locations, as well as carrying out cable tracing and fault identification.
The Telecommunications Engineer will support a nationwide infrastructure project with a leading tier 1 telecommunications company. This role involves working across multiple sites throughout England, carrying out rack recovery, cabling, fibre tracing, and network infrastructure activities within live telecom environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for engineers with strong data centre, transmission, fibre, and telecom infrastructure experience who are comfortable working independently and as part of a 2-engineer team when required.
- Safely recover and move cabling while understanding when activities require:
- Trace copper, fibre, and COAX cabling to confirm correct services are being recovered or relocated.
- Use fibre testing equipment including:
- Identify and interpret cable and fibre labelling including “to/from” routing information.
- Determine correct fibre lengths and connector types for new links or equipment relocation activities.
- Complete rack recovery activities and safely replace floor tiles after works are completed.
- Produce reports, order sheets, and documentation using Microsoft Office applications.
Strong telecoms infrastructure and cabling experience
Experience working in live network environments
Fibre and copper cabling knowledge
Experience using fibre testing and tracing equipment
Understanding of transmission and network connectivity
Ability to travel extensively across England
Flexibility for overnight stays where required
Competitive day rate
