About The Role: During the 24 months, you will learn all of the responsibilities and accountabilities of a Field Technician, which is a key role within the Field Engineering Team. The role of Field Technician - Engineer is to carry out all Field-based activities associated with building and testing new solutions and the de-commissioning and de-installation for our customers both at customer premises as well as on Vodafone's core network sites. The role will also get involved in repair activity, which involves troubleshooting and replacing equipment at customer premises or within the core network. Representing our brand and delivering an excellent level of service for our business customers is also a key component of this role. The Field Engineering role is a physical one, with the need for manual lifting, climbing stairs, walking and being on your feet for large parts of the day, working in both inside and outside environments. Internal and external rooftop based working including the use of ladders up to 3 metres is essential and the role holder will be expected to undertake regular health assessments to ensure that all physical aspects of the role may be carried out safely. Upon graduation, the Field Technician role comes with a branded commercial vehicle so you will need to have the ability to park this at or near your home. We need individuals with the ability to work in a focused and flexible manner, putting the needs of the customer first. Having a passion for technology is also important, as is the ability to learn new skills quickly in this constantly changing and evolving environment. This role also requires someone who has a flexible attitude to working hours, as the Field Delivery team may need to provide Field resources to facilitate customer demands. As such there may be a requirement to work on shift or standby rotas. Depending on the specific needs of the team in question, our working patterns may include weekday, weekend and night working.

How to prepare for a job interview at TXO

Get Ready to Show Your People Skills

In field sales, strong interpersonal skills are key. Be prepared to discuss previous experiences where you’ve successfully built relationships or handled objections. We should practice some real-life scenarios where you might sell a product or negotiate terms, as interviewers often look for demonstrations of these abilities.

Know Your Numbers

Even as an apprentice, you might be asked about basic sales metrics or performance indicators. Brush up on common terms like conversion rates and sales pipelines. We can run through examples where you might have participated in a project or activity that involved tracking progress or targets—this will help show you're data-savvy and results-oriented.

Be Ready for Role-Playing

Many companies in field sales love to throw in a role-playing exercise during interviews. You might be asked to pitch a product on the spot or handle a mock customer’s concerns. We should rehearse a few sales pitches together to get you comfortable thinking on your feet when the interviewer throws you into the deep end!

Emphasise Your Willingness to Learn

As an apprentice, you’re not expected to know everything. Highlight your eagerness to learn and adapt in a challenging sales environment. We can brainstorm ways to communicate your motivation for growing within the company and how you can contribute to the team at TXO, whether it's sharing your fresh perspectives or your enthusiasm for sales.
