Join a growing UK haulage company. We are a reputable and expanding UK-based haulage business delivering reliable transport and logistics solutions nationwide. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and organised Transport Manager to join our team in Grays, Essex.

The Role

As Transport Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day coordination of our fleet and drivers, ensuring operations run safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with UK transport regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support drivers to ensure safe and timely deliveries
  • Ensure compliance with Operator Licence regulations and Driver Hours legislation
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance, servicing, MOTs, and inspections
  • Control transport costs and identify operational improvements
  • Resolve transport-related issues quickly and effectively
  • Maintain accurate records including tachographs, fuel usage, and maintenance logs
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Transport Manager within haulage/logistics
  • Strong understanding of UK transport legislation and compliance
  • CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in Road Haulage – essential
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Good knowledge of transport management systems and Microsoft Office
