Are you looking for a career in the rail industry? TXM Recruit are working in partnership with a high profile railway client. They are expanding their fleet and are looking for multiple Rail Operatives to join their team located in Cambridge CB1 3AE on an initial 5 month contract. This role is paying £21 per hour. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and begin a career in the rail industry! Full training will be given to successful applicants. If you are hardworking, happy to work shifts and have an appreciation for health and safety then please read on.

Main Duties:

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient working of all train movement.
  • Shunting within Cambridge Carriage Sidings and other locations under the instructions of the Carriage Siding Supervisor.
  • Liaise with Train Crew, Signallers and other staff on matters relating to working within Cambridge Carriage Siding.
  • Using safe radio protocols where appropriate.
  • Carry out various other duties to maintain standard documentation, maintain security, and maintain good standard of cleanliness within the Carriage Sidings.

What We Require:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills as you will be required to liaise with other team members on safety critical matters via radio.
  • A flexible approach to work as the role covers all shifts, a heavy commitment to night shifts and weekend/bank holiday working.
  • A good standard of literacy, clear communication skills and be willing to undertake initial training as required.
  • Happy to undertake assessment in the role.
  • There is a requirement to wear protective clothing (issued by the client).

Main Details:

  • Shifts: Various Shifts- including Mornings, Afternoons, Nights and Weekends (Flexible across all).
  • Pay Rate: £21 per hour.
  • Contract: 5 months (ongoing).
  • Location: Cambridge CB1 3AE.
  • Start Date: 8th June 2026 (must be available to start on this date due to course requirements).

Please note: this role requires completing and passing a medical and drug and alcohol test. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an exciting, friendly, and fast paced team, delivering essential services.
