The Opportunity
As a Senior Product Engineer, you will play a key role within the Product Engineering function, acting as the technical focal point for resolving complex issues across design, assembly, test, sustainment, and new product introduction. The role is central to the successful introduction of new products into production, continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, and the assessment of in-service hardware returning from the field. You will lead product and process changes, analyse production data to identify improvement opportunities, and ensure processes remain capable, controlled, and aligned with customer and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as technical authority for complex production, assembly, and test issues
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustainment programmes
- Lead product and process improvement activities to enhance performance and reliability
- Analyse manufacturing and quality data to drive continuous improvement
- Apply APQP methodologies, supporting PPAP submissions
- Create and maintain PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams throughout the product lifecycle
- Develop Assembly & Test processes, procedures, and tooling concepts
- Support flow-line and single-piece Assembly & Test environments
- Investigate aftermarket products returned from service
- Train and mentor Assembly & Test Technicians
- Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams
About You
We are keen to speak with experienced engineers who enjoy ownership, leadership, and hands-on technical problem-solving. You will ideally have:
- A degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Proven technical and project leadership experience
- Strong understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and design intent
- Experience developing assembly and test processes
- Broad understanding of mechanical, electronic, and hydraulic testing principles
- Hands-on experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, and APQP tools
- Proficiency in Minitab, MS Project, and MS Excel
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A proactive, organised, and self-starting approach
