Our client, a globally recognised aerospace and defence organisation, is currently seeking Airworthiness Engineers to join their growing engineering team based in Wimborne, Dorset.
Operating at the forefront of advanced aerospace technology, the business specialises in the design and manufacture of world-leading air-to-air refuelling systems, advanced refuelling probes, air-to-air and air-to-ground launch systems, and defensive aids equipment supporting some of the most advanced fixed and rotary-wing aircraft programmes globally.
With over 80 years of industry expertise, the organisation is recognised internationally as a market leader in aerospace fuel systems and next-generation air-to-air refuelling capability, supporting critical defence programmes and air forces worldwide. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the regulatory compliance and certification of advanced aerospace systems, ensuring all products, modifications, and repairs meet the required airworthiness standards and regulatory frameworks.
Working closely with Design, Operations, Systems Safety, and Engineering teams, you will play a key role within the wider Office of Airworthiness supporting activities across UK MAA DAOS, UK CAA Part 21G & Part 145, and EASA Part 145 approved environments.
Depending on your level of experience, you may also support the development and mentoring of more junior Airworthiness Engineers within the wider team. This role would suit candidates with experience within aerospace certification, airworthiness, compliance, safety-critical engineering, or regulated aerospace environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure designs, modifications, and repairs comply with applicable airworthiness regulations and standards
- Prepare and review certification documentation for aerospace systems and components
- Conduct inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
- Provide technical guidance to engineering and operational teams regarding airworthiness matters
- Maintain accurate records relating to airworthiness activities and certification status
- Liaise with aviation regulatory authorities and external stakeholders
- Support continuous improvement activities across airworthiness and certification processes
- Work closely with Airworthiness and System Safety specialists within an integrated engineering environment
Candidate Requirements
Essential Experience
- Previous experience within an Airworthiness, Certification, Compliance, or Aerospace Engineering role
- Understanding of aerospace regulatory environments and certification processes
- Knowledge of EASA, FAA, and/or UK MAA regulations
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work within highly regulated and safety-critical engineering environments
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within Part 21 / Part 145 environments
- Defence or military aerospace programme experience
- Experience supporting certification documentation and regulatory approvals
- Exposure to Systems Safety or Design Assurance activities
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Aerospace Engineering or related engineering discipline preferred
- Ideally 2+ years experience within an Airworthiness Engineering or related role
- Candidates with equivalent industry experience will also be considered
