TXM Recruit are proud to be the recruitment partner for a leading London-based light rail operator, supporting the hire of a highly skilled Rolling Stock Engineer to play a key role in fleet performance, reliability, and safety assurance.

This is a critical engineering position within a complex and high-performing rail environment. You will be responsible for delivering technical solutions, driving reliability improvements, and ensuring compliance across a modern rolling stock fleet. You will also play an important role in supporting fleet availability, leading engineering change, and contributing to continuous improvement and new fleet introduction programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical assurance and compliance activities across rolling stock systems
  • Deliver engineering changes through formal assurance processes as a Designated Competent Person
  • Drive reliability and performance improvements using predictive and preventative techniques
  • Manage supplier relationships, including visits to UK and European sites
  • Develop and maintain the Annual Asset Maintenance Plan in line with ISO55001
  • Provide technical leadership across safety, maintenance, and documentation standards
  • Lead and support engineering projects and innovation initiatives
  • Conduct audits, condition assessments, and produce detailed technical reports
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver operational and engineering improvements
  • Support and mentor team members to build future capability

About You

Essential:

  • Degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience within a rolling stock or rail engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, control, and pneumatic systems
  • Experience in safety assurance and compliance within rail environments (ROGS / ORR)
  • Background in delivering engineering projects and managing suppliers
  • Strong commercial awareness (contracts, KPIs, performance management)
  • Excellent communication and technical reporting skills

Desirable:

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or working towards
  • Experience with new train introduction programmes
  • Familiarity with diagnostic and engineering software tools
