Salary: Up to Β£29,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday | 06:00 - 14:00
Overtime: Paid at 1.5x Monday-Friday and 2x on weekends
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established rolling stock engineering business, preparing rail vehicles and components for painting and refurbishment. You will play a key role in ensuring vehicles are finished to the highest standards by carrying out all preparation work prior to the paint process.
The Role
- Preparing rolling stock vehicles and components for painting and refinishing.
- Sanding, filling, masking and cleaning vehicle surfaces to ensure a high-quality finish.
- Removing defects, corrosion and imperfections from metal surfaces.
- Using a variety of hand and power tools to prepare components.
- Working from engineering drawings and job instructions where required.
- Carrying out repairs and preparation work to meet customer quality standards.
- Inspecting prepared surfaces before they move into the paint process.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Following all health & safety procedures and company policies.
- Supporting the wider production team when required.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience in a Prepper role within rolling stock, automotive, aerospace or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Essential: Previous experience with sanding, filling and preparing surfaces for painting.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Good awareness of health & safety within a workshop environment.
