TXM are supporting a client with the recruitment of a Group Production Planner to join their Group Operations and Supply Chain team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced production planning professional to take ownership of converting demand into efficient, achievable production plans across a multi-site manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in aligning customer requirements with operational capability and supply chain performance, ensuring strong delivery outcomes through effective planning, forecasting, and risk mitigation.

As Group Production Planner, you will act as the critical link between commercial demand and manufacturing execution. You will be responsible for developing robust production plans, maintaining schedule visibility, and supporting operational performance across the business. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Operations, Procurement, Logistics, and Manufacturing teams to ensure production plans remain realistic, achievable, and aligned to business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate sales forecasts into robust long-term production plans, balancing capacity, materials, and customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain master production schedules across multiple departments and sites.
  • Optimise utilisation of people, equipment, and materials while accounting for capacity constraints and planned maintenance.
  • Lead and contribute to Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activity across the business.
  • Monitor WIP and finished goods inventory to maintain service levels while avoiding excess stock.
  • Track planning KPIs including on-time delivery, backlog, and schedule adherence, driving corrective actions where required.
  • Identify and escalate delivery risks proactively and implement mitigation and recovery plans.
  • Ensure agreed plans and operational instructions are followed effectively.
  • Maintain a disciplined, data-driven approach with focus on planning accuracy and operational excellence.

We are looking for someone who brings a strong planning mindset alongside practical manufacturing experience and the ability to influence across multiple functions. You will ideally have:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and component flow gained through hands-on experience.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel for planning, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving capability with the ability to recover plans quickly when issues arise.
  • Excellent communication skills with confidence presenting solutions and engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Experience driving process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Leadership capability with experience supporting, guiding, or mentoring planning teams.
  • A detail-focused approach with a mindset of validating information and avoiding assumptions.
  • A forward-thinking and proactive approach to planning.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within make-to-order and/or make-to-stock manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of MRP principles including demand management, lead times, and capacity planning.
  • Experience working with BOMs and routings.
  • Working towards, or interested in, professional qualifications such as CIPS, supply chain, or planning certifications.

Personal Attributes

  • Logical, structured, and methodical approach to planning and problem solving.
  • Calm and resilient under pressure.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to develop.
  • Clear communicator who works effectively across all levels of the organisation.

If you are looking for an opportunity to influence production performance and play a key role in a growing operational environment, we would be interested in hearing from you.
