We're working with a leading global engineering and defence organisation to recruit a CNC Machinist into their high-performing manufacturing team in Ampthill. The Role
- You’ll be working in a precision CNC environment producing complex components for both R&D and production.
- Set, edit and operate 3, 4 & 5-axis CNC machines.
- Work with Heidenheim and Fanuc controls.
- Prove out new programs, tooling, and fixtures.
- Make offsets and machining adjustments to optimise performance.
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Carry out inspection using gauges and review CMM data.
- Support process development and tooling improvements.
- Work closely with engineering to refine machining methods.
- Apply problem-solving techniques to improve output and quality.
What We're Looking For
- Strong background in multi-axis CNC machining (3/4/5 axis).
- Experience with Fanuc and/or Heidenheim controls.
- Confident in program editing, setup, and prove-out.
- Able to work from detailed engineering drawings.
- Experience with inspection and quality control processes.
- A proactive, solutions-driven mindset.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing / 6S principles.
Nice to Have
- Milling experience.
- Exposure to R&D, prototype or low-volume manufacturing.
- Experience creating process documentation or work instructions.
- Continuous improvement / process optimisation experience.
