Job Title: Contract Maintenance Engineer (FMCG)
Location: Manchester
Contract Length: 3 Months Rolling
Rate: £25 – £35
Shifts: Days/Nights Available

About the Role:

A client of mine is looking for experienced Contract Maintenance Engineers to join a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for ensuring high levels of machine reliability and efficiency by carrying out reactive and planned maintenance on a variety of automated production equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Respond to breakdowns quickly to minimize downtime in a high-output production environment.
  2. Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production lines and packaging machinery.
  3. Diagnose faults on electrical and mechanical systems, including PLCs, conveyors, motors, sensors, and automated systems.
  4. Work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ensuring optimal performance.
  5. Assist with continuous improvement projects, focusing on efficiency and waste reduction.
  6. Maintain compliance with health & safety regulations and food industry hygiene standards.
  7. Accurately log maintenance activities and provide reports on recurring issues.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in an FMCG, food, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  2. Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  3. Experience working with high-speed production lines, packaging equipment, and automation systems.
  4. Ability to work under pressure and quickly adapt to changing production demands.
  5. PLC fault-finding experience (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar) is advantageous.
  6. Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering).
  7. 18th Edition certification (desirable for electrically biased engineers).
