TXM Recruit are supporting a well-established, innovation-led engineering business in their search for a Bid Manager to join their growing team.
The Opportunity
This is a newly created position within a business undergoing significant transformation and growth. It offers a unique opportunity to shape and define the role, driving improvements across the bid and project life cycle while playing a key part in delivering the company’s ambitious growth strategy. Operating across multiple UK sites, you will take ownership of the bid process, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, competitive proposals and ensure seamless transition into project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage incoming bids and coordinate responses across the business
- Support the external sales team in developing and progressing opportunities
- Oversee costing activities to ensure accuracy and competitiveness
- Coordinate inputs across Operations, Engineering, Commercial, Quality, and Purchasing teams
- Lead bid handover into Project Management, ensuring clarity and continuity
- Provide updates on major tenders to senior stakeholders and the executive team
- Identify and mitigate risks in collaboration with the commercial team
- Evaluate bid win probability and support pipeline prioritisation
- Work closely with Finance to optimise margins and commercial performance
- Drive continuous improvement across bid and commercial processes
- Develop scalable processes to support growth across multiple sites
About You
- Proven experience in bid management and tender writing
- Experience working on public sector tenders
- Strong project and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Experience managing or coordinating teams
- Strong organisational and document control skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
Desirable:
- APMP qualification or equivalent bid/proposal training
- Shipley methodology experience
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Epicor)
- Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Trello
- Value-based pricing experience
