Are you an experienced FPGA Engineer looking to work on cutting-edge digital signal processing and embedded hardware projects?
We're recruiting for a talented FPGA Design Engineer to join an innovative engineering team developing advanced FPGA solutions for high-performance applications. This is an exciting opportunity to work on technically challenging projects involving digital signal processing (DSP), communications, sensing technologies and embedded systems.
You'll be involved throughout the complete development lifecycle, from system architecture and FPGA design through to verification, testing and deployment, working alongside electronics, software and systems engineers on complex engineering programmes.
The Role
As an FPGA Engineer, you'll design and implement high-performance FPGA solutions for a wide variety of applications, translating technical requirements into reliable, efficient hardware implementations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing FPGA solutions using VHDL and/or Verilog.
- Creating, testing and validating FPGA designs using modern development toolchains.
- Developing Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms for FPGA implementation.
- Working with AMD (Xilinx) FPGA devices, including SoC platforms.
- Performing simulation, verification, timing analysis and hardware validation.
- Collaborating with hardware, embedded software and systems engineering teams.
- Supporting technical design reviews and project planning.
- Producing clear technical documentation throughout the development lifecycle.
- Identifying technical risks and contributing to innovative engineering solutions.
- Engaging with customers and stakeholders to understand technical requirements.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Commercial experience designing FPGA solutions.
- Strong VHDL and/or Verilog development experience.
- Experience using AMD Vivado or equivalent FPGA development tools.
- Knowledge of FPGA verification, simulation and testing.
- Strong understanding of Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
- Experience working across the full FPGA development lifecycle.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Desirable:
- Experience with AMD (Xilinx) Zynq SoC devices.
- Knowledge of RF systems or wireless communications.
- Experience with OpenCPI, SOSA, STICS or other open architecture standards.
- Understanding of embedded software or firmware development.
- Familiarity with electronics and hardware design.
- Experience within defence, aerospace, industrial, telecommunications or advanced technology sectors.
- Previous experience within an engineering consultancy or project-based environment.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading technical work packages.
