TXM Recruit are recruiting for Facilities Technicians to work in Edinburgh on a permanent basis. The role is working for one of the leading manufacturing and maintenance rail companies in the UK. Job Function Site plant and infrastructure maintenance and diagnostics, providing pro-active support in ensuring that the site infrastructure is maintained to an appropriate level corresponding to the requirements set out by the Facilities & Infrastructure Manager. Main Responsibilities and Duties Carrying out programmed Daily/Weekly/Periodic checks/reactive repairs for site plant rooms and services including:- Civil and buildings – e.g. all external and internal building/site fabric. Domestic plant – all plant equipment permanently linked into the site infrastructure e.g. Pump stations, waterproof test facility. ICT+S (Information, Communication Technology and Security Systems) – PA system, CCTV system and individual components, security systems, BMS and its integration to the wider site plant and all associated network infrastructure supporting these systems. M+E (Mechanical and Electrical systems) – E.g. Site Heating, Venting and Cooling Systems, Low Voltage/High Voltage supply, electrical systems. Internal, External, Emergency Lighting. Specialist Pant – E.g. Depot protection system, bogie drop equipment, LOPS, jacks, OLE, Wash systems, P-way, etc. Investigate diagnose and rectify accordingly any reports of faults/breakdowns to plant and site infrastructure, as laid out by the DRF procedure. Ensure maintenance of the site/office/buildings and their contents, is carried out, in accordance to the correct requirements. To carry out departmental procurement needs, such as : Creating and managing PRs Creating and managing POs Managing the departmental debit card Process relevant invoices and GRN procedure. Carry out investigative works on defective plant and equipment, either providing primary diagnostics to the relevant contractor or by performing small authorised repairs. To use and demonstrate the usage of any equipment/plant on site as needed by the department (assuming appropriate competencies and training are in place). To be trained/certified and become proficient in the use of forklift equipment. To be trained/certified and become proficient in the use of OLE switching equipment. To provide support in maintaining internal / external housekeeping to the required standard. To assist / perform relevant risk assessments in relation to site maintenance activities as requested by line manager. To assist in conducting safety and environmental assessments in relation to company activities. Work to company safety policy and procedures when working under normal duties. To monitor all areas of site activities and ensure compliance with internal / external standards and relevant documented procedures, giving immediate feedback to management in the event of non-conformity. Create and manage any SAP items, as required for the purposes of governance, such as: Functional locations Assets Notifications Work orders Equipment structures Task lists Maintenance plans Maintenance cycles To help investigate accidents and incidents as required by line manager. To provide assistance in implementing and maintaining departmental records and procedures. To access, interpret and distribute all relevant schematics, drawings and diagrams To support waste management as needed for the site, liaising between the contractors and the site staff.Provide support / assistance to external contractors as directed by line manager. Ensure that any issues concerning site plant equipment and infrastructure are reported in a timely manner to the line manager. To provide support in the preparation of any required compliance works. To be the deputy responsible person regarding L8. To assist in the training / induction of new personnel. This includes escorting visitors and contractors around site as required. Liaison with internal and external personnel as required completing the duties of the post. This includes management of third party contractors on site. Assist as required, with different departments as directed by line manager. To be aware of and actively promote and implement company ethos, culture and values. To be involved in staff development and training and participate in PDP procedures. To adhere to the companies Equal Opportunities Policy. Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications Essential Working at Height. Maintenance of safety critical machinery. Excellent fault finding skills.Qualifications NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical, C&G Craft apprenticeship or equivalent.Behavioural Sound knowledge of and compliance to, rules and regulations. Good written and verbal communication skills. Able to represent the company in a professional manner at all times. Good team worker with previous experience of general routine building maintenance in an industrial environment is essential along with electrical wiring / installation experience. Position holder must be able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company.
