We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Contracts Manager to join a well-established MEP projects team based in Exeter. This is a senior leadership opportunity within a business known for delivering high-quality building services projects across local and national portfolios. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will take full ownership of multiple electrical projects, including traditional and Design & Build schemes. You will be responsible for end-to-end project delivery, commercial performance, and client satisfaction, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of electrical projects from pre-construction through to final handover
- Take responsibility for project planning, resourcing, budgets, and programmes
- Carry out site visits, surveys, inspections, client meetings, and handovers (with occasional travel and overnight stays)
- Provide leadership and ongoing support to project teams, monitoring performance and development
- Manage procurement of materials, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure cost-effective delivery
- Own the client relationship, managing expectations and resolving issues or disputes professionally
- Prepare and present Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) forecasts to senior management
- Work closely with Design, Estimating, and Subcontract teams to ensure seamless project delivery
- Drive operational performance improvements and promote continuous improvement
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, statutory testing, and industry standards (IEE, NICEIC, JCT, NEC, etc.)
- Maintain accurate project documentation, permits to work, and compliance records
- Identify and maximise opportunities for additional works and revenue growth
What We Are Looking For
- Core electrical qualifications (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds)
- HNC / HND in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (desirable)
- Proven experience in an Electrical Contracts Manager or Electrical Project Manager role
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety management, including CDM Regulations
- Commercially aware with solid financial and project management skills
- Confident communicator with strong client relationship management ability
- A natural leader who can manage teams, adapt to change, and perform under pressure
