We are seeking an Associate Power Electronics & Controls Engineer to support the development of advanced electronic and control systems for high-performance automotive, motorsport, and aerospace applications. This role focuses on the integration of power electronics and embedded control, working on microcontroller-based systems that drive and optimise high-voltage hardware.

You will contribute to the design, development, and validation of embedded control and power electronic systems, taking ownership of defined work packages within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop embedded control systems for power electronic applications
  • Implement real-time control using microcontrollers / DSPs
  • Contribute to firmware development (C/C++) for control and diagnostics
  • Support design of analogue and control circuitry
  • Interface with power electronics hardware (IGBTs, MOSFETs, gate drivers)
  • Perform simulation, testing, and validation activities
  • Troubleshoot issues and support root cause analysis
  • Contribute to system integration (e.g. CAN) and engineering documentation
What We're Looking For
  • Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (or equivalent)
  • ~3 years experience in embedded systems, controls, or power electronics
  • Strong first principles approach to problem solving
  • Experience with microcontrollers / embedded systems and C/C++
  • Understanding of control systems (e.g. feedback loops, PID)
  • Experience in analogue and power electronics design (up to ~1000V desirable)
  • Knowledge of IGBTs, MOSFETs, and associated drive circuitry
  • Experience with schematic capture, PCB design, and circuit simulation (e.g. LTSpice)
  • Exposure to testing, validation, and debugging
  • Experience in automotive, motorsport, or aerospace environments is advantageous
  • Awareness of safety-critical standards (e.g. ISO 26262 or DO-254)
Desirable Experience
  • SiC / GaN (wide bandgap) devices
  • EMC-aware design in line with global standards
  • Development and execution of validation plans
  • Experience with Altium Designer, PSIM
  • Exposure to DFMEA / FTA and structured engineering processes
  • Tolerance analysis and lifetime calculations
