Are you an experienced cleaner or maintenance operative with experience working in an industrial, depot or similar environment? Are you comfortable carrying out jet washing, general housekeeping and cleaning duties while following strict health and safety procedures?
TXM Recruit are working in partnership with a high-profile railway client. They are recruiting for a Train Maintainer to join their team located in the Etches Park, Derby on a contract basis. This role is paying £13.71 per hour (circa £28,500 per annum).
To maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment within the maintenance sheds by carrying out routine cleaning, housekeeping and jet-washing activities. The role supports safe depot operations, helps prevent slips, trips and falls, and ensures the maintenance areas are kept to the required housekeeping standards.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean, tidy and safe environment across maintenance sheds and designated work areas.
- Sweep floors, remove debris and dispose of waste correctly.
- Carry out routine jet washing and floor cleaning using industrial cleaning equipment.
- Keep walkways, access routes, emergency exits and fire equipment clear and unobstructed.
- Use cleaning equipment, chemicals and PPE safely and in line with site procedures and COSHH requirements.
- Carry out basic pre-use checks of jet washers, hoses and cleaning equipment, reporting any defects.
- Use appropriate barriers and warning signs when carrying out cleaning and jet-washing activities.
- Identify and report spillages, hazards, damage or other housekeeping concerns.
- Work closely with Shift Managers and depot staff to coordinate cleaning around maintenance activities.
- Follow the agreed cleaning schedule and maintain required housekeeping standards.
What We Require:
- Previous cleaning, industrial cleaning or maintenance experience is desirable.
- Experience using jet washers/pressure washers would be advantageous.
- Good understanding of health & safety and COSHH requirements.
- Reliable, hardworking and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail and a strong approach to maintaining cleanliness and safety.
- Physically fit and comfortable carrying out hands-on cleaning and jet-washing duties.
