The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Metallic Machinist (Turner) to join our dedicated manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-precision components using CNC turning equipment, supporting both prototype and low-volume production in a fast-paced, high-performance engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce components efficiently and cost-effectively, minimising lead times while ensuring high standards of quality.
- Collaborate with Toolpath Programming (TPP) to resolve machining challenges and optimise job setup or runtimes.
- Liaise proactively with machinists and teams across the business to implement best practices.
- Conduct thorough first-off inspections and monitor batch quality.
- Accurately record production data using Data Collection Software.
- Ensure effective handovers between shifts through clear, written, and verbal communication.
- Maintain accurate documentation for repeatability and future production needs.
- Contribute suggestions for improving efficiency, tooling, and production processes.
What Youll Bring:
- Strong experience setting and operating Fanuc-controlled CNC lathes and/or turn-mill machines.
- The ability to manually or conversationally program machines is a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple machines and plan ahead in a high-accuracy, fast-turnaround environment.
- Solid understanding of machining both metallic and non-metallic materials, including aircraft-grade alloys and engineering plastics.
- Ideally, you will have completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship or have gained equivalent hands-on experience in precision machining.
