Job Description:
TXM Recruit are actively recruiting for a CNC Technician to work within the production team to support the overhaul, manufacture, and maintenance of locomotive and wagon wheelsets, contributing to the delivery of the weekly production plan. This is a hands-on mechanical role, requiring precision, attention to detail, and a strong focus on quality and safety.
Job Duties:
- Maintain high-quality machined products in line with daily production KPIs.
- Carry out maintenance, overhaul, strip-downs, rebuilds, and new builds of locomotive and wagon wheelsets.
- Set and operate manual and CNC vertical borers and CNC lathes.
- Work to tight tolerances using precision measuring equipment.
- Read and interpret technical and orthographical drawings and specifications.
- Ensure all measuring equipment remains in calibration.
- Adhere to COSHH requirements for materials and substances used during overhaul and manufacture.
- Ensure all machinery PPM and daily maintenance activities are completed.
- Report all incidents, accidents, and near misses in line with company procedures.
- Comply with company and site safety plans, policies, and accreditations.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties required to achieve business objectives.
Qualifications / Skill Sets:
- Hands-on mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience operating vertical borers and/or axle lathes (manual or CNC).
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances.
- Programming experience would be an advantage.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A proactive and safety-focused approach to work.
