TXM Recruit are supporting a leading engineering and manufacturing business in their search for a mechanically focused QHSE Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with production, engineering, and wider operational teams to drive improvements across Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental standards.
About the Role
As the QHSE Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and developing the company’s Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental management systems. This position suits someone with strong mechanical understanding who can confidently support audits, investigate issues, and drive continuous improvement across the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality
- Support the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of ISO 9001 processes.
- Conduct internal audits and process reviews to ensure compliance.
- Lead root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for non-conformities.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to improve quality performance.
- Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations including the Health & Safety at Work Act, PUWER, and COSHH.
- Carry out safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, ensuring effective corrective actions.
- Deliver toolbox talks and contribute to ongoing workforce safety training.
- Environmental
- Support ongoing compliance with ISO 14001 environmental systems.
- Monitor environmental KPIs such as waste, emissions, and energy usage.
- Promote sitewide environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to environmental legislation and waste management controls.
- General
- Champion a proactive QHSE culture across the business.
- Support customer and regulatory audits.
- Maintain QHSE documentation, policies, and reports.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, Projects, and HR departments.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong mechanical background or experience within a mechanically focused engineering/manufacturing environment.
- Experience working within QHSE functions (Quality, Health & Safety, or Environmental).
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and support production teams.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to lead investigations and drive change.
