We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Building Care Operative to help maintain the safety, reliability, and functionality of railway stations and depots. This is a key role where your expertise will directly impact the daily operation and safety of essential transport infrastructure.

π Purpose of the Role
You will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs across various rail-related buildings, depots, and facilities. The role requires strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation and involves working within a safety-critical environment where PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification is required.
π οΈ Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to buildings, plant, and infrastructure
- Ensure full compliance with safety legislation and internal policies
- Manage contractors on site, ensuring RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) and access permits are in place and adhered to
- Support safe and coordinated activities across multiple sites
- Promote good housekeeping and high standards of health and safety
- Provide a professional impression when engaging with customers and colleagues
- Respond flexibly to operational needs and undertake additional duties as required
β What Weβre Looking For
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance within safety-critical or regulated environments
- Working knowledge of relevant health & safety legislation
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Strong fault-finding and repair skills
- Carpentry or plumbing skills desirable
- Current, full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to work across multiple sites
