TXM Recruit are working with Prime Atlantic Group, a multidisciplinary construction services and electrical contracting business delivering expert solutions across building, engineering, fit-out, refurbishment, commercial interiors, electrical, AV and data services. Due to continued growth, we are currently recruiting for a Procurement Assistant to support their procurement team on a temporary basis.
The Procurement Assistant will provide day-to-day purchasing support across materials, plant hire, subcontractors and project-related requirements. Working closely with the Procurement Manager, Project Managers, suppliers, subcontractors and accounts teams, the role will ensure purchase orders are processed accurately, suppliers are supported, deliveries and hire arrangements are managed, and invoices are handled efficiently.
Pay rate: £15.38 per hour
Location: Bedford Office
Contract length: Temporary 2-month contract
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm (35 hours per week, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Raise and process purchase orders through Simpro for materials, plant hire, subcontractors, travel and other project requirements.
- Ensure purchase orders include accurate job numbers, cost centres, delivery details, site contacts and supporting documentation.
- Obtain supplier quotations and place orders with approved suppliers in line with project requirements and internal approval processes.
- Liaise with Project Managers to confirm purchasing requirements and ensure correct materials, equipment and services are ordered.
- Support supplier and subcontractor onboarding, including credit applications, compliance information and supporting documentation.
- Ensure subcontractor purchase orders are raised before works commence and accurately reflect labour, materials and associated costs.
- Monitor outstanding orders, deliveries and plant hire arrangements, including arranging and recording off-hires.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, delivery timescales, order queries and invoice discrepancies.
- Review hire and subcontractor invoices, obtain approvals and support the accounts process.
- Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier and invoice records to support reporting and audit requirements.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
- Support the wider procurement function with general administration and purchasing activities.
Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience within procurement, purchasing, administration or a similar role is desirable.
- Experience raising purchase orders and dealing with suppliers would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Confident communication skills when dealing with suppliers and internal teams.
- Good numerical and administrative skills.
- Competent using Microsoft 365 applications.
- Experience using Simpro or a similar procurement, finance or project management system would be beneficial.
- Experience within construction, electrical contracting or a project-based environment would be advantageous.
