Are you an experienced depot manager within rail? Do you have extensive knowledge of rolling stock? If so, TXM Recruit are working in partnership with a high-profile railway client who are looking for a Depot Manager to join their team located in East Midlands on an initial 6-month contract basis paying Β£500 per day (Umbrella Rate- Inside IR35).
As the Depot Manager, you will provide leadership and governance across the depot, with responsibility for the delivery of safe, reliable and presentable trains into service daily.
Key Responsibilities:- Fleet Production & Service Delivery: Ensure the reliable delivery of the required fleet production output, providing clean, safe, and functional trains into service daily.
- Resource Management: Oversee the provision of sufficient resources in terms of number, skill, competence, and experience, ensuring a safe and efficient depot output, while maintaining compliance with company Human Resources policies.
- Depot Safety Plans: Create, shape, and deliver strategic Depot Safety Plans, identifying potential risks and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
- Support Structures: Ensure robust support structures are in place to enable the safe and efficient delivery of operations, including facilities management, quality assurance, health & safety, and environmental management.
- Project Delivery & Governance: Support the delivery of fleet and business projects, ensuring robust implementation and governance at the depot level.
- Financial Management: Deliver financial targets set for the Depot, identifying and mitigating any financial risks to ensure the depot remains within budget.
- Compliance & Legislation: Ensure the Depot complies with all relevant legislation, contracts, and internal company processes and procedures.
- Stakeholder Relations: Foster strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the depot's needs are represented across broader company functions, and vice versa.
What we require?
You should be a motivational leader with proven people management skills and a leadership background in a unionised production environment, with strong general management skills. You will have the ability to build strong relationships and have excellent commercial and financial management skills. You need to be a great communicator who can apply continuous improvement to look beyond the day to day for business improvements. A degree or equivalent experience of railway rolling stock or another technical discipline would be advantageous. IOSHH, NEBOSH or an equivalent health and safety qualification, as well as A1 and/or V1 competency assessment qualification is desirable.
