We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational Teacher of Social Sciences to join our thriving and high‑performing curriculum team. This is an exciting opportunity to teach Sociology at KS4 and KS5 and Law at KS5, contributing to two subjects that are rapidly growing in popularity and central to our vision for Social Science education across Christchurch.

Sociology has recently been introduced as a new GCSE option and is already proving extremely popular with students. At A level, Sociology has long been one of Twynham Sixth Form’s most successful subjects, with strong outcomes and high levels of student engagement. Law A level has been introduced this year and is already attracting significant interest from our sixth form students.

You will be joining a dynamic and collaborative team of Social Scientists, including our hugely successful Psychology department, PSHE and PRE. This is a fantastic opportunity for a colleague who is passionate about Social Science education and eager to contribute to a vibrant, ambitious and supportive team.

Who we are looking for:

  • Have an honours degree (or equivalent) in social sciences, law or a related discipline.
  • Have experience of improving outcomes for students in social sciences as a classroom teacher.
  • Can demonstrate successful experience of teaching social sciences specialism at Key Stage 5.
  • Have an understanding of effective pedagogy.
  • Are a high-energy and passionate individual with a clear moral purpose which is driven by a desire to improve the life chances of young people.
  • Are an emotionally intelligent colleague who can adapt to a range of situations and communicate with various stakeholders including students, parents and other colleagues and professionals.
  • Are outgoing and enthusiastic with a positive “can-do” attitude and a solution-focused approach.
